various updates

I’d like to apologise to my fellow readers and friends of the lack of updates. work and school caught up with me, and I doubt I can write as regularly as I started. Perhaps at best, twice a week.

But here are the updates. I’ve decided to apply to NUS in the upcoming Academic Year. Why?

I’ve discovered where my heart truly lies. I’ve went on this wonderful journey of life, and I thought, IT was the thing for me 9 years ago. I loved building websites and still do, but couldn’t care about the nuts and bolts about what makes a computer. Even to this day, if you ask me to fix a computer, I’d only know how to do the rudimentary stuff. What I love to do is communicating myself online. And I’ve grown to reach my alter-ego and am a more sociable person.

For 3 years of my working life, I’ve been a geek. I rode the technology wave, and I thought geek is me. Ok. Maybe to a certain extent. But in all honesty, after crashing Nad’s lecture once, and enjoying English of all things, I discovered that NUS is, and has been the place for me.

Heck, I’ve even gotten myself an NUS library card and jacket!

What I want is an Arts degree. Not a Comp.Sci one. There are a lot of IT jobs out there, but I seriously don’t like to do stuff like helpdesk and engineering work. I build websites, and that’s the stuff I do best.

But most importantly, I love History, Geography, Lit, English and learning languages. And that’s what I wanna do. I want to travel, and my talent in IT, building websites, getting people connected and my love for Humanities and the Arts is the one thing which drives me. Gives me the passion that will push me further in life. I love discussing about Singapore’s history, its past, and its could haves. And I love discovering the little nooks and crannies of this island which I care about.

I love learning about the world wars, about how geography matters, finding a location. What this natural rock face tell about the region, what these people in this location do, what are their cultures and customs. These are stuff that I’m deeply interested about, and if there’s anything on TV that I watch other than AXN, and the sports channels, it’s definitely National Geographic, The History Channel and Discovery Channel, and for a time when we had free TV5 Monde, I loved watching French films.

I’ve discovered a course in NUS which will marry the stuff I’m talented in which is the Internet and the stuff that I really wanna do which is humanities and languages. It’s called Communications and New Media at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

I took a look at all the modules, and I simply love it! These are all the things I want to do in life and I certainly want to join this course. But this time, I won’t restrict myself to just one program. Unlike the last time, I’ll apply for several programs in FASS which is where my heart truly lies and I’ll definitely put CNM as first choice due to my IT background.

So my fellow NUS friends, see you around next year!!! Like you’ve not seen me around for the past 5 years like that eh? hahahaha. I tell you, I’ve been posing as NUS student for like 5 years already. hahahaha. Now’s the time to really get in lah k.
