I’ll be participating in codeXtreme Apps, a 24 hour programming competition organised by IDA and ITSC (Infocomm Technology Standards Committee). I believe I’m the only non-student participating, whereas most are students in the various local varsities such as NUS, SMU, NTU, SP, NP, and others.

However, since I’m still a student at the University of Adelaide, I still hold the flag of South Australia high! It had been a fruitful 2 weeks, getting to know Ruby On Rails and Google Maps API and stuff. I’m sure due to my programming talent I can whip up a nice Web 2.0 app in 24 hours.

But I’d like to thank the organisers for helping me with my rut as I discovered that the competition fell on the same day as my Data Structures and Algorithms exam! Oh Haz! Nadiafied again! heh.

They gave me official leave during the hours I have to take my exam and thank goodness for that. I hope to get that done and over with. The practicals were rather easy. But I have to give more attention to my exam which I’ve yet to revise for, and boy I’ve missed quite a few lectures and tutorials.

Well, I think I’m pretty capable of handling both the exam and the competition at the same time. I hope to target for a Distinction, and winning this competition would make for such a nice bonus.

In the 2 weeks I’ve been at ISS for the workshops, I made a few new friends. The first time I met Hirman, he was using his girlfriend’s laptop, a windows thingy, with a whole lot of very minah roxy stickers all over it. But after being brainwashed by Chris and me, he went out to buy a Mac that very same day and has become an enthusiastic convert ever since! Ahahahaa!
