2008. Ushering a prosperous year for local citizen journalism.
Finally. 2008 has arrived and with it comes a whole new look for the TypeCanvas Media Network. Starting out more as a multimedia blogging outlet for myself, I rediscovered blogging, and decided to launch a network of multimedia blogs that covers several areas of interest.
For followers of my personal blog, this has now moved to Abang-Abang. That will be the location of my own personal stuff. Mag however will be taking a new life. It will be a live experiment of citizen journalism, covering 4 topics of interest: relationships between lovers, technology, business and current affairs on the global and local scale from an atypical Singaporean perspective.
If you had been following the original Mag from its hot pink 2006 days, you’d notice that several sections have been removed. In particular are the Muzik and Ticket Stubs sections. These sections unlike some others are not discarded completely, but will be transferred to other parts of my media network.
Muzik will have a brand new home in TypeCanvas FM. Expect iTunes podcast quality when we release it next week in collaboration with VirtualRockBand.com, a MySpace-like social network for rockers to meet rockers and play rock music. TypeCanvas FM will also organise quizzes where weekly winners get prizes like iPods, TypeCanvas t-shirts or VirtualRockBand.com t-shirts.
Ticket Stubs will now be found in TypeCanvas TV. Expect iTunes movie quality when we release it next week with freely available trailer content. We’ll have movie reviews in high quality video podcast! TypeCanvas TV will also feature a free channel on relationships and dating tips specifically for men. Apart from this, in the pipeline will be TypeCanvas TV‘s flagship docu-drama series, called Mats and Lians (tentative), a series on Singaporean idiosyncrasies of racial stereotyping, which we hope could be released by Christmas this year.
So that’s it! A busy year ahead of us, but one that will surely be a prosperous 366 days (this is a leap year. Lucky February).
